The Best Motorcycle Roads on Funen, Measured

Read inEnglishDansk

Funen gets sold as the postcard island, all half-timbered houses and Hans Christian Andersen. What the postcards skip is that the south coast road out of Faaborg is, by measured curve count, one of the very best motorcycle roads in Denmark, and the island packs three genuinely different rides into a territory you can cross in an hour.

As with every guide in this series, the roads below were measured end to end through Kurvo's public routing API, which grades each curve from the road's real geometry. The national overview is in The Best Motorcycle Roads in Denmark.

The roads, measured

  1. The south coast road (Faaborg to Svendborg): 26.5 km, 80 graded curves
  2. Hindsholm (Kerteminde to Fyns Hoved): 21.6 km, 50 graded curves
  3. Svanninge Bakker (Faaborg to Nørre Broby): 15.4 km, 20 graded curves
Measured from Kurvo's public routing API in July 2026, riding each road end to end on the Fast tier. Curve counts are the number of graded curves on the run, copied verbatim from the API.

Faaborg to Svendborg: the headline act

Eighty graded curves in 26.5 kilometers, and that is on the Fast tier, simply following the coast road. The stretch rolls through the hills of South Funen with the archipelago flickering between the trees, and it never straightens out long enough to get bored. If you ride one road on the island, it is this one. Extend it across the bridge to Tåsinge and Langeland if the day allows.

Hindsholm: the quiet peninsula

North of Kerteminde, the Hindsholm peninsula measures 50 graded curves over 21.6 kilometers out to Fyns Hoved, where the land narrows to a headland with sea on three sides. Traffic thins with every kilometer north, and the last stretch feels like a private road. It is the region's best-kept secret and the perfect morning half of a full Funen day.

Svanninge Bakker: the Funen Alps

The hills north of Faaborg carry a nickname, the Funen Alps, that the locals deploy with a straight face. The measured run to Nørre Broby is 20 graded curves over 15.4 kilometers, gentler than the coast road, but the short punchy climbs through the hills themselves are the draw. Combine with Faaborg to Svendborg for the classic south-island loop.

What the routing tiers do on Funen

The benchmark pair says everything about how good the baseline is here: Faaborg to Svendborg already carries 80 graded curves on Fast. Curvy lifts it to 97, and OMG! turns the trip into a 61-kilometer, 197-curve tour of the island's interior:

Faaborg → Svendborg
Same start, same destination, three different rides
Fast26.5 km · 28 min
80 curves
Curvy28 km · 31 min
97 curves
OMG!61.3 km · 87 min
197 curves
Measured from Kurvo’s public routing API in July 2026, same start and end point for all three tiers. Bars show the number of graded curves on each route.

All three roads are pre-analyzed in Kurvo's curvature database, with every graded curve called before you reach it. If you are planning a full day, here is the step-by-step, or let the round trip generator build the loop to the time you have. Kurvo is free to try on iOS and Android.
